Elastomer-Thermoplastic Blends

Elastomer-Thermoplastic Blends:
The elastomer-Thermoplastic blends are prepared by blending elastomers with thermoplastics
They are two categories -
1. Elastomer with amorphous plastics(PVC),
2. Elastomer with crystalline plastics (PE, iPP)

PVC blends:
1. Nitrile elastomer with PVC-  the use of nitrile elastomer as plasticizer improved the swelling resistance. These blends have one phase or multi phase depending on the acrylonitrile content
2. Polyester with PVC - polyesters are used in PVC as plasticizer and  impact modifiers. Oligomeric polyesters are used as plasticizers and high molecular weight copolymers are used as impact modifiers.
3. Ethylene copolymers with PVC - EVA copolymers were used as impact modifiers, and its compatibility is stated to increase with increase in vinyl acetate content

Polyolefin blends:
1. Thermoplastic elastomers based on mixtures of polyolefin elastomers with polyolefin thermoplastics
2. Ethylene/propylene copolymers and terpolymers with polyethylene and propylene: various grades of these materials are available with shore A hardness from 65 - 92.
3. Natural rubber with polyethylene and polypropylene: various grades of these materials are available with shore A hardness from 34 - 68.
