Mould Material

Mould material: Without proper steel material proper mould cannot be achieved. Always choose best material for best works, like core cavity, guide pillers and ejecter pins. Hard material and grade is best for mould life.
Different mould materials are:
1. Mild steel.
2. Alloy Steel etc.

Essential requirements of steel for moulds:
1. Excellent machinability
2. Excellent heat treatability
3. Good polishability
4. Good Compressive strength
5. High wear resistance
6. Surface corrosion resistance

The selection of steel for a particular mould depends on the requirements from:
1. Product Designer
2. Mould Designer
3. Mould Maker
4. Moulder

Free from defects                                Wear resistance
Easy to machine and polish               Compressive strength
Stable in heat treatment                     Corrosion resistance
Suitable for EDM/etching                   Thermal conductivity

Efficiency of mould
Depends on :
1. Design
2. Mould material selection
3. Estimated Injection temperature
4. Estimated Mould temperature
5. Estimated ejection temperature of the product
6. Coolant temperature and pressure
7. Estimated ambient temperature of mould plant
