Convention of Section line:
1. Cast iron, Steel, Copper, Aluminum. Section lines are inclined at 45’ and uniformly spaced
2. Lead, Zinc, Tin, white metal. Section lines are inclined at 45’ in opposite direction.
3. Glass
4. Marble, Porcelain, Stoneware, Slate, Etc
5. Rubber, Leather, Paper, Linoleum, Cock, Felt asbestos, Fiber, Wax, Etc. Section line is horizontal while the other one is inclined at 45’.
6. Liquids, Such as water, Oil, Petrol, Kerosene, Etc.
7. Wood, plywood, Etc. Along grain.
8. Wood, plywood, Etc. Across grain.
9. Concrete.

Tailstock:
The tailstock is the part of lathe mounted on its bed way opposite the head stock to support either lengthy workspaces or tool such as drills, reamer, etc. It is assembled from the part’s shown in fig. It can be clamped anywhere on the lathe bed. The body has a through horizontal bore and four rectangular blocks at its bottom which project into the through formed between the bed way on the lathe. A feather is fitted in the hole in the front end of the bore such that its rectangle head projects into the bore.
