Section: the surface produced when a section plane cut a solid is termed as a section , it is indicate by continuous thin line inclined at 45* to the axis or to the main outline of the section spacing b/w these hatching lines is uniform and should be chooses in proportion to the size of the hatched section.
Cutting plane or section plane: the imaginary plane which assumed to cut the object as required is called cutting plane or section plan. Cutting plane are generally shows by thir traces by using line made of alternate long and short dashes, thickened at the end, bends and changes of direction and elsewhere. A section plane will be usually perpendicular to one or both by reference plane. A section plane perpendicular to only one of the reference plane may parallel or inclined to the reference plane. The projection of the section on the plane to which it is perpendicular is always straight line coinciding with it’s face on that plane. That is why the plane shown by their traces.
Types of cutting plane or section plane:
Half section: when an object is symmetrical it may be assumed to cut by two cutting planes at right to each other and contenting the two center line of the two object. The one quarter of the object b/w the planes is then removed sowing only a half section. The projected view is a half section view.
Full section view: when an object is assumed to cut through entirely and the front half removed, it is said to be in full section. The projected view is called a sectional view.
Partial or brocked section: when only a small portion of an object is required to be show in section to reveal a minute feature the view is show in a partial or bracken. The irregular line shows the boundary of the section. This section is also known as the local section.
Revolved section: a section is formed by passing a cutting plane at right angle to the axis of the object. It is in fact the cross-section of the object. This section is then revolved and brought into the plane of the axis and show in the view in which the axis is seen as a line. Section shown in this manner is called as revolved section. The outline of the section is shown by a continuous line.
